We invite you to learn, create and have fun making art with us at The Artery!
Why Art?
Because ART connects us more deeply to the world,
and opens us to new ways of seeing and thinking and because art is FUN!
Art is essential to the development of our children.
It builds creative thinkers and creative thinkers change the world.
Greater art education leads to fewer disciplinary problems, higher attendance, graduation rates and test scores.
Art is built into the foundation of culture. It enables us to see and understand other cultures. It bridges language barriers.
Art is a form of communication that challenges kids to express what they imagine.
Young people who engage in the arts are four times more likely than those without art education to participate in math and science fairs, to win awards for writing and to be recognized for high academic achievement.
Art Promotes:
Lifelong problem-solving skills
Motor skill development
Language skill development
Inventiveness
Presentation skills
Engagement

Connection between self and culture

In our spring break art camp, students will dive headfirst into three bold worlds: graffiti art, abstract pattern design, and superhero drawing. Each project will invite young artists to explore identity, movement, and imagination in completely different ways.
We kick things off with graffiti-inspired lettering, transforming names and positive words into vibrant, stylized compositions. Students experiment with bubble letters, sharp angles, drop shadows, and layered color blends, learning how street artists use shape and flow to make words feel alive.
From there, we shift into abstract pattern work, where repetition, rhythm, and contrast take center stage. Using line, shape, and color, students will create high-energy designs that feel like visual music. No “right” answers, just fearless experimentation and pattern power.
Finally, capes on.
Our superhero drawing project encourages character development from the inside out. Students will design original heroes complete with costumes, symbols, and backstories. We will explore proportion, action poses, and expressive details that bring characters to life.
This class is all about bold choices, big confidence, and discovering that art can be loud, powerful, and uniquely yours.
